About us

The Tyler gallery was opened on the site of the old Mousehole Craft Shop in February 2002 and has recently moved just up Brook Street to new larger premises at no 12. It is run by Newlyn born and bred potter Essex Tyler and features his own work, ornamental raku pottery which is based on an old Japanese technique. The gallery also displays a selection of paintings, prints, cards and jewellery.
Amongst the artists usually shown are Anthony Frost, John Piper, Bob Devereux, Neil Pinkett, Michael Upton, and Lucie Bray. There is jewellery by Helen Feiler, Christine Povey, and Alex Everitt. Essex Tyler himself can be seen working on his pots in situ and is happy to discuss his working methods. The gallery can be found up an alleyway on the right hand side just past The Ship Inn overlooking Mousehole harbour. The best place to park is the North Quay car park.
